Recognizing your employees is very good for your business. It promotes teamwork, increases motivation and decreases employee turnover. You can do much better than simply choosing an employee of the month though – get creative! Engaging your employees in a fun event or offering discounts and goodies can go a long way.
With Easter coming up soon, why not organize an employee-only egg hunt in the restaurant? Get some plastic eggs and fill them with candy and gift certificates, and include a couple big prizes (and maybe a couple zonks, like a penny).
If events aren’t your style, consider sending a card to employees thanking them for their hard work. It doesn’t have to be fancy, but hand-written is more meaningful. You could include gift certificates here as well.
