    For California: California Food Handler Card Requirement

    A new law has been passed to increase food safety competence and awareness in California - Senate Bill (SB) 303, this new requirement is called the California Food Handler Card and it requires all food handlers to successfully pass a food handler training course and exam with a minimum score of 70%.

    This law is also required in addition to the Certified Food Manager requirement that mandates every food establishment to have at least 1 certified Food Manager.

    California Food Handler Card - REQUIRED BY LAW

    ALL FOOD HANDLERS in a food establishment are required to successfully pass a food handler certificate program by January 1, 2012 or within 30 days of their date of hire.
